Yemi Osunkoya is the very talented award winning designer behind the Kosibah label. In September 2011 Kosibah celebrated providing the industry with gorgeous creations for a total of 20 years! I was incredibly lucky to work alongside Yemi Osunkoya and create stunning head pieces for his new 2011 Bridal Collection.
The Kosibah brand was established in London in 1991 and named the company in honour of his mother. The name Cosiba comes from the Republic of Benin and is the day name of a female child born on a Sunday.
Yemi Osunkoya's work is amazing and rightly so both the designer and the label have won a vast amount of awards.
Celebrated clients include Louise Rose, leading actress of Universal film Life & Lyrics, Alesha Harvey (formerly Dixon), Sheila Ferguson formerly of the Three Degrees, Hollywood actress Indra Ové, Miss World Agbani Darego, and singer Stephanie Benson. Kosibah’s clientele is truly worldwide, although particularly well represented in the UK, Nigeria and USA.
Kosibah specialises in contemporary and elegant couture bridal, evening and formal day wear using luxurious fabrics and sumptuous embellishments. Yemi’s signature use of corsetry and boned bodices cleverly recreates the classical and elegant hourglass figure, producing gowns that curve, shape and flatter the wearer. All gowns are made to measure and made to order. The bridal gowns are breathtakingly beautiful and made just for you the individual! My bridal accessories work with every one of Yemi's dresses.
